Equality and empowerment messages driven through in new album by Onejiru

Kenya born singer-songwriter Onejiru has released more thought-provoking and soulful music in her new album Higher than High. This second album in her discography continues to add on to her growing reputation of leading female artists in genres such as afrobeat, funk and soul. She has described the album as the feeling you have when you let music rid your body of all anxieties and instead fill it with joy. She truly embraces the idea that the dance floor is a place to leave your daily troubles and this transcends through her music.

Onejiru is both serious and humorous which is exemplified in her recent video release on YoutTube in which she gives the public a taste of what Higher than High is all about. In it she speaks in a stripped back environment about the world we live in and the choices that face us as we are inevitable shaped by society. She mixes this with samples of tracks from the album and she truly shows off her fun and versatile self as she dresses in bold and colourful outfits.
