For the Love of Trees Offers a Musical Map Toward Stillness and Connection
Clíodhna Ní Aodáin’s For the Love of Trees arrives as a deeply personal tribute to trees and the wisdom she finds in their presence. Releasing August 14, 2026, on Curve Blue, the album reflects her work as an artist who connects Celtic tradition, intuitive expression and contemporary healing music.
The album grew from years of feeling connected to trees and wanting to listen more deeply. Ní Aodáin began taking her cello into forests, sitting beneath individual trees, and responding musically to whatever arose first. She would sing, translate the melody to cello, and allow the encounter to unfold naturally.
For the Love of Trees contains seven tracks: “Linden Tree,” “Rowan Tree,” “Lament for the Trees,” “Fairie Tree,” “Forest Moon,” “Redwood” and the title track. The focus track, “Linden Tree,” is especially centered on stillness, calm strength and gentle wisdom. Together, the pieces form an immersive journey through landscapes inspired by Ireland, Switzerland and the United States.
The album was recorded in Boulder, Colorado, with producer Mickey Houlihan, a Grammy Award winner. Ní Aodáin performed on the cello of Grammy Award-winning cellist David Darling, and the finished work blends cello improvisations, voice and piano with subtle field recordings and atmospheric soundscapes.
The recording has received praise from respected musicians including Eugene Friesen and Martin Hayes. Friesen described it as music that evokes safety, humility and grandeur, while Hayes highlighted its lyricism, rich feeling and thoughtful arrangements. Through For the Love of Trees, Ní Aodáin offers listeners an invitation to slow down, listen and remember the healing relationship between people and the living earth.
