The future will be live streamed thanks to Brite Spires’ upcoming track ‘Futurist’

Electro-pop rich, female-fronted Brite Spires takes listeners to the future with their upcoming release ‘Futurist’. Taking inspiration from Gill Scott-Heron’s piece ‘The Revolution Will Not Be Televised’, the four-piece reimagine the narrative into a refreshing synth-heavy track. Complete with ethereal harmonies, bouncy backing and a lively energy that keeps it grounded in modern-day pop, Brite Spires bring a wave of contemporary nostalgia that works effortlessly.

Following on from the success of their February 2021 release ‘Crystalize’, Brite Spires channel all things New Wave and 80s pop, but rather than sound like a cliched ode, ‘Futurist’ elevates the nuances through a driving beat and a dynamic performance. The vibrant instrumental, full of sleek synths, compliments the combination of sung and spoken word featured throughout the song, creating a musical landscape akin to a fast-paced sci-fi tale. The vocal performance itself is soft but never lacks emotion; taking on the role of the narrator through a story of modern technology, it guides the listener from start to finish, never coming across as passive but instead fully immersed into the world Brite Spires have built. Singer Bella Glanville nails the airy pop vocal, which acts as another driving force behind the track.

Being compared to artists such as Blondie and Madonna (courtesy of NIGHTSHIFT) is an example of how slick both the production and performance Brite Spires generate are. They are a pop literate experience, taking inspiration from the likes of New Order and La Roux and reworking them into a refreshing mixing pot of modernised electronic pop.

Overall, ‘Futurist’ is clean, full of life and a good time all around. Whilst feeding into the growing trend of nostalgic pop, Brite Spires stand out with their synth-pop stylings due to how genuine it feels. The joy that spills from the track is palpable and should not be missed out on.
