Renowned international musical ensemble Engegård Quartet is showcasing their versatility and mastery of classical and Norwegian folk music through a series of captivating videos filmed in the picturesque Lofoten region. Collaborating with Aurora Borealis Multimedia AS, the quartet has released five videos, each showcasing a different aspect of their impeccable talent. 

Engegård Quartet, known for their exceptional performances of the core classical repertoire, is now captivating audiences with their renditions of traditional Norwegian folk songs. The videos, set against the stunning backdrop of Lofoten, offer a unique and immersive musical experience. Among the featured videos is “En Smuk Aftensang,” a beautiful evening prayer from Kvæfjord arranged by Bjørn Andor Drage. The quartet’s rendition of this fan-favorite has mesmerized audiences for years. “Skotsk,” a lively dance number from Lom in central Norway, serves as the perfect introduction for those new to the group’s music, while also delighting longtime fans. “Bruremarsj frå Eide” tells the poignant story of a bride’s long march to her husband’s side, with a somber yet captivating melody based on traditional Norwegian wedding customs. 

The quartet’s talent is also on display in their arrangement of “Yoik Suite,” a duet for Hardanger fiddles by Sigmund Lillebjerka. The hauntingly beautiful piece is updated with a new arrangement by Engegård Quartet, incorporating elements of Lapland’s landscape and culture. Last but not least, “Haugelåt” weaves together Grieg’s Opus 72 with the traditional folk melody of the same name, telling the tale of a farmer in search of his missing bull. Engegård Quartet’s artistry has garnered high praise from music critics and enthusiasts alike. The group has been awarded the prestigious “Choc de Classica” not once, but twice, in June 2019 and September 2023. Their debut CD was hailed as “breathtaking” by The Strad, and their second release received Pizzicato magazine’s “Supersonic Award.”
