Discover the Emotional Journey of Jazz Artist Lorna Reid in Her New Album, ‘I Will Tell Your Story

Jazz music lovers, get ready for a treat as acclaimed singer-songwriter Lorna Reid is set to release her new album I Will Tell Your Story, which features a beautiful lead single called Sweet Baby Blues. 

The album is due to release on March of 2025, while the single will be available on 23rd November 2024. Known for her swinging jazz band style, Sweet Baby Blues showcases a more intimate and emotional side of Reid. The stripped-back track features an emotional sax solo and delicate piano keys, perfectly complimenting her powerful vocals. Co-written with Darden Smith, the song was born during a writer’s retreat in the picturesque Highlands of Scotland. Reid shares, “Darden and I clicked creatively when we wrote Sweet Baby Blues sitting outside on a warm summer evening in the wilds of Scotland. 

The collective experience of writing together was beautiful.” She adds, “This song holds a special place in my heart as it takes me back to a bittersweet time in my life. It’s honest and raw, and every time I perform it, it feels fresh to me.” Inspired by untold stories and filled with vivid imagery and evocative melodies, I Will Tell Your Story is a fusion of jazz, blues, and soul. With a mix of intimate ballads and rhythm-driven tracks, the album reflects the highs and lows of the muse. Reid draws influence from a diverse range of artists, including Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Quincy Jones, and even X-Ray Spex, making it a jazz album like no other. But Reid herself is an artist like no other. She constantly looks to expand her horizon, whether through her Human Being Diet, work as a coach, or hosting foreign language students to learn more about the world and its cultures. 

Her 2013 album Falling Like Dew broke ground and earned her an invite to perform at the Rochester NY International Jazz Festival on the Made in the UK stage. Recorded entirely in Scotland with the support of Creative Scotland, I Will Tell Your Story was mixed by Jon Kelly and mastered by Nick Watson at Fluid Mastering. The album features an all-star lineup of talented musicians such as Louise Clare Marshall (Jools Holland’s band), Euan Stevenson (piano/composer), Konrad Wiszniewski (sax), Neil Warden (guitars/Weissenborn), and more. Fans can catch a glimpse of Reid’s new album at her live shows in various jazz clubs across Scotland in March and at the Northwest Castle Jazz Weekend in October.
