Synth-pop pioneers Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) are set to light up Rochdale Town Hall Square on 7 August 2026. Fans can expect a night full of classic hits, energy, and nostalgia.

Joining them will be Peter Hook & The Light and A Certain Ratio, two legendary acts connected to Rochdale’s rich musical history. Together, they promise a show not to be missed.

A Return to Their Roots

OMD recorded their debut single “Electricity” at Cargo Studios in Rochdale back in 1979. That moment marked the start of a career spanning over four decades, with over 40 million records sold and 18 UK Top 40 hits.

Returning to Rochdale is more than a concert—it’s a homecoming. Fans will hear classics like Enola Gay, Souvenir, Maid of Orleans, and If You Leave, songs that shaped the sound of the 1980s and beyond.

Special Guests Bring Extra Magic

Peter Hook & The Light, led by the Joy Division and New Order co-founder, will perform a career-spanning set. Fans can expect iconic tracks from both bands, played live with raw energy.

Meanwhile, A Certain Ratio will kick off the evening. Known for fusing punk with funk, the Manchester band helped define post-punk music. Their appearance completes a lineup deeply connected to Rochdale’s musical legacy.

Rochdale Music Stories

This concert is part of Rochdale Music Stories, celebrating the town’s role in shaping British music. Partnering with Rochdale Borough Council, the event also highlights the beautifully restored Town Hall Square as a vibrant live music venue.
