Three days and counting! Upcoming alternative R&B and pop artist Vienna is set to release her long-awaited EP RYDA on May 5th, 2023.
The EP’s lead single ‘Blank in Space’ has been teasing fans for the past few months, and was released April 7th, 2023. The track is a combination of slick production and emotive performance, inspired by old school DnB and R&B, as well as the more contemporary bedroom and alternative pop sounds.
Vienna talks about the song, saying “Blank in Space represents a time after overworking yourself and the stress finally passes away; the peace that keeps people going through this tough time. A lot of people talk about the struggle to get there and their success after but I don’t see a lot of people talk about the peace afterward which is just as important. This is what ‘Blank in Space’ is trying to portray. It also touches on self-empowerment and being proud that you have finally got to that point.”
Vienna is no stranger to success, having made waves with her EP XVIII released in December 2022. The 4-track project saw the artist’s single Questions placed on a Spotify Editorial playlist and airplay across BBC Introducing Essex and Radio 1. Another single Wish I Knew enjoyed multiple plays across BBC Introducing Essex and BBC Radio 1Xtra.
“I’ve been influenced by the people around me and the people who have defined experiences around me. I remember listening to ‘Gravity’ by Sara Bareilles and I remember thinking about how I want my music to tell the type of story and reach people the way that that song touched me.”
At only 18, Vienna has already achieved extraordinary things. The artist has been writing songs for 7 years, and by the age of 13 had written well over 50 songs. With the release of Blank in Space only three days away, and the EP following shortly after, this is an exciting time for Vienna and her fans.
